Mnetが毎年開催する1999年から始まった音楽授賞式。略して『MAMA』と呼ばれている。韓国では年末になるとたくさんの音楽授賞式の祭典が開かれており、数多くある音楽授賞式の中でも『ソウル歌謡大賞』『ゴールデンディスク賞』そして『MAMA』が韓国三大音楽授賞式だ。
毎年欠かさず授賞式をチェックしているが、MAMAが一番盛り上がる。そしてK-POPのアーティスト達は、MAMAで大賞をとると涙をたくさん流す。他の授賞式では泣かないアーティストも、MAMAでは泣く。おそらくMAMAで大賞をとることが、K-POP界では物凄く敬意があることだからだと思う。

K-POPに詳しい人なら、この大賞受賞者達を見てすぐ気付いたはず。ほぼ全部、韓国三大事務所のSM、YG、JYP所属のアーティストなのだ。三大事務所以外での大賞受賞者は2006年のsg WANNA BE、2012年のCho Yong-pil、2016年の防弾少年団のたった3組。アイドルグループにいたっては、防弾少年団が初。やはりK-POPは三大事務所を中心に動いているといえるだろう。
2017年、開催場所・会場・公演日
2017年は異例の3カ国開かれる。なぜ3カ国なのはか不明。しかも3カ国別日に開催されるというので、もしかすると、3つある大賞を1会場ずつ発表するんだろうか。そんなの見てる側としては、気になって仕方ない。
今年の大賞者を予想
今年も去年に引き続き、防弾少年団、EXO、TWICEが3つある大賞を分け合い、新人賞はWanna Oneとキムチョンハと予想。10月19日から投票がすでに始まっており誰が大賞をとるのか注目が集まっている。
